The U.S. Naval Academy and a nearby base in Maryland are currently on lockdown after reports of an armed shooter. According to multiple sources inside the U.S. Naval Academy, it is believed that the shooter is a “midshipman” who had been “kicked out of the school.”
On Thursday, gunshots were reported inside of Bancroft Hall, the section of the Naval Support Activity Annapolis (NSAA) that houses around 4000 or more midshipmen.
A campus official confirmed that the perpetrator was “knocking on doors pretending to be a military policeman.” Additionally, one individual who has been shot was transported via medevac — while the other gunshot victims are being evaluated.

“Naval Support Activity Annapolis, in coordination with local law enforcement, is currently responding to reports of threats made to the Naval Academy,” NSSA wrote on Facebook. “The base is on lockdown out of an abundance of caution. This is a developing situation and we will provide updates as they become available.”
