Live: Accused Charlie Kirk shooter asks for prosecution to be removed

(NewsNation) — Tyler Robinson, the man accused of fatally shooting conservative political activist Charlie Kirk, will appear in court as his lawyers argue for the prosecutors on the case to be dismissed.
Robinson is facing charges after the shooting of Kirk during a rally at Utah State University.
The defense team is arguing to have the prosecutors removed because the child of one of the lawyers on the team was at the rally when Kirk was killed. The motion does not question the prosecutor’s integrity, but argues the prosecutor and his son could be traumatized by the event and therefore have a conflict of interest.
The prosecution team is arguing that there is no conflict, noting that the son in question was an adult and was minimally traumatized by witnessing the shooting.
The issue is one of several pre-trial issues being heard by Judge Tony Graf.
One major issue that has yet to be decided is whether the media will be allowed in the courtroom. Graf is set to hear arguments on that issue in an upcoming hearing.
