Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, a Democrat, praised the White House for launching Trump Accounts despite opposing most of President Donald Trump's other policies, telling "The Clay Cane Show" that "I will give this administration credit for this.

The governor said Trump Accounts, which will deposit $1,000 in federal funds into an account for children born between 2025 and 2028, is "actually a good idea. And you know what it is, frankly. It is essentially the same thing that we have been advocating for a decade, which is like baby bonds ... by giving children a chance to be able to have something that can grow... that can then give them an opportunity to have a measure of [sustainable] economic mobility."

Moore stressed that "we have been fighting for this for a decade," adding "We've had Democratic presidents, Republican presidents, who have not been able to get this done. And it actually got done. This is actually a smart policy."

Moore went on to say, "I hate the fact that he called it a Trump Account. Like why he put his name on this thing is so unbelievably frustrating and he put his name on everything. But that [is] just who the man is and that's who he has been his whole life. But on a policy perspective, this is a good thing!"

The governor added, "I am focused on ending child poverty, and I'm focused on ending the racial wealth gap, and this is actually an important tool to be able to move towards doing both."
