Entertainer Vanilla Ice told Newsmax on Wednesday he has no worries about politics, and he's happy to perform at America's 250th anniversary celebration.
The rapper, whose real name is Rob Van Winkle, said that political finger-pointing is not for him.
"I don't know anything about any of that, man," he said on "Ed Henry: The Big Take." "That's all you guys.
"I just try to stay neutral and be the musician that brings everyone together."
He said the event will be a big party.
"This is just about dancing and not taking everything so serious. Everyone's invited. And it's, it's going to be a great event, man," the entertainer said. "We're going to bring a carnival. I got the '90s coming out like you wouldn't believe."
The America's 250 celebration website describes his planned show as a "high-energy performance featuring one of the defining voices of 90s music, bringing fan-favorite hits and nostalgic favorites to the stage."
He told Henry that the description sounds about right.
"We're just going to not take everything so serious and be pretty silly and enjoy being American. That's what it's about."
He predicted everyone who is there for the event will be smiling.
"And smiles are contagious, man," he said, "and that's what this is, is to enjoy the country that is still the greatest country in the world and happy to be here and play this. And I'm honored to be invited to do it. So, it's going to be epic."
While he stays away from political statements, he said he respects President Donald Trump.
"I mean, there's nobody I've ever seen, you know, come back like that, and take on all of the stuff that's thrown at him, you know, and he's definitely inspirational," the entertainer said. "I mean, wow, to be shot at and everything and want this job at all on your shoulders."
He added that Trump could choose to be anywhere instead of the White House.
"As a billionaire, you could be out living it up and not being shot at and just shopping and enjoying the billionaire lifestyle. But instead, he's doing this," he said.
