President Donald Trump will attend the dignified transfer of the American service members killed in Iranian attacks over the weekend, the White House announced Monday, as the administration vowed Tehran would face severe consequences for the deaths, The Hill reported.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt wrote on X that Trump "will attend the dignified transfer of our fallen heroes [Tuesday] evening at Dover Air Force Base" in Delaware to honor the fallen troops as their remains are returned to the United States, adding that "the president and the entire White House are praying for their families." 

Leavitt also reposted a Truth Social message from Trump in which the president warned Iran of further retaliation, stating, "Every time Iran kills an American soldier they will pay for that killing many times over!"

The announcement came hours after the Pentagon identified two of the U.S. service members killed during Iranian attacks over the weekend as 1st Lt. Tyler Feehan and Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, The Hill reported.

According to the Defense Department, Gonzales was killed in action Friday, while Feehan was killed Saturday during an Iranian strike on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, a Royal Jordanian Air Force installation that has repeatedly come under attack during the latest escalation between the U.S. and Iran.

A third U.S. service member was also killed in Iraq over the weekend during the controlled detonation of an Iranian drone, according to military officials.

The deaths marked one of the deadliest weekends for American forces since hostilities between Washington and Tehran intensified, prompting a swift military response from the Trump administration.

Tuesday's dignified transfer at Dover Air Force Base will provide military honors for the fallen service members before they are returned to their families for burial.
