Trump Urges Baseball HOF Committee to Place Roger Clemens

President Donald Trump has urged Baseball Hall of Fame committee voters to elect former MLB star Roger Clemens, calling it a "total travesty" that the seven-time Cy Young Award winner has not been enshrined.

In a lengthy Truth Social post Saturday, Trump argued that Clemens’ career achievements, including 354 wins, a record seven Cy Young Awards, and nearly 4,700 strikeouts, make him "clearly one of the Greatest Pitchers of All Time," and said the Hall’s committee should "do the right thing" when it votes "tomorrow" on new members.

"Roger Clemens is the only pitcher who has won 300 games and not had the honor of being enshrined in the Hall of Fame, which is a total travesty! The only reason he is not is because of rumors and innuendo, which were not proven," Trump continued.

"He never tested positive and, when the Obama DOJ went after him in a criminal case claiming that he did take steroids, Roger, who has always denied taking any drugs, was FULLY ACQUITTED OF ALL CHARGES," the president added.

Clemens, a key figure in baseball’s steroid-era debate, fell short of election through the writers’ ballot in 2022 after reaching a peak of 65.2% in 2020, below the 75% threshold required for induction.

"The Baseball Commissioner has the Strength, Wisdom, and Power to do the right thing, and put Roger Clemens in The Baseball Hall of Fame, IMMEDIATELY!" Trump concluded.
