Voters in Maine are getting their fill of political ads during the World Cup.

Overall, political campaigns and committees have spent more than $2.1 million, Politico reported, citing an analysis by AdImpact.

Stronger America, a 501(c)(4) organization aligned with Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, has spent $287,000.

Pine Tree Results PAC, also affiliated with Collins, has spent $123,000, while the Collins campaign has spent $25,000.

One Nation, a group aligned with Senate Republican leadership, has spent $122,150.

Democrat nominee Graham Platner has spent only $3,500.

The Maine race is considered key to determining which party controls the Senate after the 2026 midterm elections.

Recent polling offers a mixed view of the race.

A New York Times/Siena College poll found Platner leading Collins 48% to 46%, while a Fox News poll found Collins leading Platner 50% to 47%.

Collins, who was first elected in 1996, is the only Republican running in a state that Democrat Kamala Harris won in 2024.

Republicans currently hold a 53-47 majority in the Senate, and Democrats must flip four seats to gain control of the chamber.

The Cook Political Report, a nonpartisan election handicapper, rates the race as a "Toss-up."
