A 36-year-old Henderson, Nevada, resident faces 35 felony counts after police accused her of possessing a stolen vehicle containing dozens of guns, leading investigators to uncover what they described as a stockpile of weapons and evidence of past threats to carry out a mass shooting on the Las Vegas Strip.

Allison Howlett, who identifies as a transgender woman, was arraigned last Wednesday in Henderson Justice Court, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

Charges included assault constituting domestic violence with use of a deadly weapon and grand larceny of a motor vehicle. Prosecutors also charged Howlett with 21 counts of larceny of a firearm, eight counts of possession of a machine gun or silencer, and four counts of possession of a short-barreled rifle or shotgun.

Jail records listed Howlett's sex as male, and police officials at a press briefing last week used both male and female references when discussing Howlett. Howlett's arrest report identified her as transgender, according to the Review-Journal.

A police official told the Review-Journal on July 1 that Howlett was born male and lives as a woman but was listed as male on jail records because she had not yet fully transitioned.

Howlett was arrested June 27 at a parking garage near Sunset Station hotel-casino. Police said at a briefing Tuesday that Howlett was also arrested on suspicion of making a threat regarding an act of terror and resisting a public officer with a firearm, though those offenses were not included in the criminal complaint filed Wednesday.

According to the arrest report, Howlett was taken into custody after her wife told 911 that she had stolen her car, which contained a number of guns, the Review-Journal reported. The caller said Howlett intended to commit "suicide by cop" or carry out a mass shooting, Henderson Police Chief Reggie Rader said in last week's briefing.

Using vehicle-tracking technology, officers located the car in the parking garage at Sunset Station, where Howlett was arrested after a standoff. Howlett briefly stepped out of the vehicle before officers fired a less-lethal round that missed and then pulled her from the driver's side window less than 10 minutes later after a struggle, according to the Review-Journal.

Howlett denied wrongdoing when interviewed by police, telling investigators that users of the social media platform Discord were trying to get her in trouble by making up threats that she was going to commit a mass shooting, the Review-Journal reported, citing her arrest report.

"Allison denied wanting to hurt anyone and denied making any prior threats to commit a mass shooting," the report stated. "Allison stated that everyone is out to get her and are setting her up."

Police said 24 guns were recovered, as well as hundreds of rounds of ammunition, from the vehicle Howlett was in at the time of her arrest. Police recovered 26 more guns from Howlett's home in Henderson, including a Colt M4A1, an Atlantic Arms AK-47 and an M5 rocket launcher, among other weapons, the Review-Journal reported, citing the arrest report.

In an interview with KVVU-TV, Howlett's wife, Julie Howlett, said the guns recovered from the vehicle belonged to her. She said she is a licensed firearms dealer and was preparing to transport the guns out of state when Allison Howlett allegedly took the vehicle.

Howlett's wife told investigators that Howlett left their home early on June 27 after an argument over money. The arrest report added that Howlett threatened that day to kill police officers and commit "suicide by cop."

Howlett's wife also told police that from January 2024 to January 2025, Howlett made "numerous threats to commit mass shootings when she would get angry," according to the arrest report. Those threats stopped after early 2025.

Bail was set for Howlett at $500,000, with high-level electronic monitoring if released, according to the Review-Journal. Howlett's preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 15.
