The dates for memorial services honoring the late Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., have been announced, with tributes planned in Washington, D.C., and South Carolina later this month.

Taylor Reidy, Graham's communications director, announced Friday on X that memorial events will be held in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, July 28, followed by services in Columbia, South Carolina, and Pickens County, South Carolina, on Wednesday, July 29.

Additional details are expected to be released later.

Newsmax congressional correspondent Kilmeny Duchardt confirmed the dates released by Graham's office.

According to the Greenville News, the announcement comes less than a week after Graham's unexpected death Saturday from an aortic dissection at age 71.

Reidy's post outlined the schedule but did not include specific times or venues.

The memorial plans follow days of discussions over how to honor the longtime Republican senator, with Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., previously telling reporters that coordinating the funeral had been complicated by the number of foreign leaders who wanted to attend.

Scott also said Graham had been offered the opportunity to lie in state at the U.S. Capitol, although it remains unclear whether his family accepted the invitation.

Graham represented South Carolina in the Senate from 2003 after serving four terms in the U.S. House.

Over more than three decades in Congress, he became one of the Republican Party's leading voices on national security, military affairs, and foreign policy.

While Graham sharply criticized Donald Trump during the 2016 Republican presidential primary, the two later forged one of Washington's closest political alliances.

Graham became one of Trump's most steadfast supporters, helping advance the president's judicial nominees and defending him during both impeachment trials.

Following Graham's death, Gov. Henry McMaster appointed his sister, Sen. Darline Graham, to serve as South Carolina's interim senator through January 2027 while voters choose a successor at a special election.

Candidate filing for the Republican primary opens July 21 and closes July 28. The special primary is scheduled for Aug. 11, with a runoff, if necessary, on Aug. 25, before the Nov. 3 general election.

The memorial services are expected to draw political leaders from across the country to honor Graham's decades of public service and enduring influence on the Republican Party.
