Seven House Democrats broke with the rest of their party and voted with Republicans in support of a resolution condemning the Los Angeles protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The text of the resolution, which was introduced by Rep. Young Kim, R-Calif., condemns the anti-ICE protests that took place across Los Angeles after the Trump administration began conducting sweeping anti-immigration raids across the city.

It states, "These protests quickly escalated into violent riots across Los Angeles, where acts of arson, widespread looting, property destruction, and vandalism were committed, blocking streets and highways, lighting streets on fire, throwing rocks at law enforcement vehicles, and assaulting Federal and local peace officers."

The Democrats who voted for the resolution include Rep. Jim Costa, D-Calif.; Rep. Adam Gray, D-Calif.; Rep. Tom Suozzi, D-N.Y.; Rep. Laura Gillen, D-N.Y., Henry Cuellar, D-Texas; Rep. Don Davis, D-N.C.; and Rep. Jared Golden, D-Maine.

Gray, who represents a swing district that he won by less than 200 votes last year, said in an interview with The Sacramento Bee, "Messaging bills like this have no real force of law and simply express the sentiments of Congress — including the sentiment included in today's resolution that Congress is grateful for the first responders and public safety officers who keep us safe day in and day out."

He went on to describe the resolution as "far from perfect" and criticized the ongoing immigration raids in his state as "terror-inducing."
