The left is working hard to "despiritualize America," conservative filmmaker and political commentator Dinesh D'Souza told Newsmax on Monday.
D'Souza told "The Chris Salcedo Show" that his new film, "The Dragon's Prophecy," brings that issue front and center.
"After three decades or more where the left has tried to despiritualize America — much the way Europe has fallen — polling suggests we're seeing the Gen Z — the younger generation, the most populous generation — seeking out meaning in faith and in God," he said.
D'Souza said the killing of conservative leader Charlie Kirk is part of that revival.
"I very much want this film to be a part of that renewal. I have to admit, I didn't foresee a phenomenon the country is actually experiencing right now," he said.
D'Souza said many people are beginning to realize that the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas terrorist attack against Israel "wasn't just another terrorist event. It was a kind of biblical event."
He said the author of "The Dragon's Prophecy" "shows some amazing parallels between the war with Hamas going on now and some battles in the Bible 3,000 years ago between the ancient Israelites and the group called the Philistines."
D'Souza said, "So Philistine, Palestine — it's the same word. It's the same name.
