U.S. Central Command said Friday that U.S. forces shot down four Iranian suicide drones headed toward the Strait of Hormuz and then struck surveillance radar sites in response.

"Moments ago, CENTCOM forces shot down four Iranian one-way attack drones that were launched toward the Strait of Hormuz," CENTCOM wrote on X.

"The attack drones posed an immediate threat to regional maritime traffic.

"U.S. forces subsequently struck Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites in Goruk and on Qeshm Island to defend against further attacks.

"American forces remain vigilant and postured to respond to unjustified Iranian aggression in self-defense," CENTCOM wrote.

The exchange comes amid heightened tensions over maritime security around Iran.

Washington has been enforcing sanctions on Iranian oil shipments, while Tehran has repeatedly threatened shipping in and around the strait.

A fragile ceasefire has been in place since April 7.

Since then, both militaries have carried out several attacks, but the ceasefire has held.

Earlier Friday, Iran's navy said it fired warning missiles and drones at U.S. warships in the Gulf of Oman, accusing the U.S. Navy of harassing maritime traffic and seizing commercial vessels and oil tankers.

CENTCOM denied the reports on X, writing: "Iranian forces did NOT attack or fire at US Navy warships."

"Doing so would be a gross violation of the ceasefire," CENTCOM added.

"U.S. forces continue to operate freely in regional waters while fully enforcing the ongoing blockade against Iran," CENTCOM wrote.

Also Friday, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command wrote on X that U.S. forces conducted a maritime interdiction and right-of-visit boarding of the sanctioned stateless vessel MT DAVINA in the Indian Ocean overnight.

"We will continue global maritime enforcement to disrupt illicit networks and interdict vessels providing material support to Iran, wherever they operate," INDOPACOM wrote.

INDOPACOM added that "international waters cannot be used as a shield by sanctioned actors" and said the Department of War would continue denying sanctioned actors and their vessels freedom of maneuver in the maritime domain.
