Boston police are investigating the death of a person whose body was discovered at a rental property owned by the husband of Democrat Rep. Ayanna Pressley, authorities said, CBS News reported Sunday.

Police responded to a home on Malta Street in Boston's Mattapan neighborhood at about 1:52 p.m. Saturday after receiving what a department spokesperson described as "a report to investigate a person."

Officers arrived to find the individual dead, Boston Police Department spokesperson James Moccia said. He declined to provide additional details, saying the department's homicide unit is leading the investigation.

On Sunday, police said they had no additional information to release about the death. A police cruiser remained outside the residence Saturday evening, and the property was cordoned off with crime scene tape as investigators processed the scene.

City property records identify the owner of the Malta Street home as Conan Harris, Pressley's husband. The two-story, seven-bedroom house, built in 1910, has an assessed value of about $919,000.

The property is not the couple's residence. It is a rental home that is currently listed for sale with an asking price of $1.15 million.

A spokesperson for Pressley said the Massachusetts congresswoman offered her condolences following the discovery.

"The congresswoman extends her deepest condolences to the impacted family," the spokesperson said in a statement.

Authorities have not identified the deceased or disclosed the cause and manner of death. Investigators also have not indicated whether foul play is suspected.

Pressley, who represents Massachusetts' 7th Congressional District, was first elected to Congress in 2018.
