Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., is calling for an investigation into the Patriot Front after members of the group marched in Washington over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

"What I find odd about Patriot Front is how under [former President Joe] Biden they were never investigated," Luna wrote on social media. "Well funded. Never investigated. FBI under Biden looked into Catholics instead. So, looks like @GOPoversight should do some digging."

Hundreds of masked Patriot Front members who marched through the nation's capital on Independence Day on Saturday did nothing illegal, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum told CNN's "State of the Union."

Although the organization's ‌white supremacist, anti-immigrant ideology is "nothing that I could possibly agree with," ​Burgum said, it is protected free speech, even if it "makes democracy messy."

Patriot Front itself has criticized democracy. A manifesto on the group's website says, "Democracy ⁠has failed this once great nation," and a "hard reset" is needed to "return to the traditions and virtues of our forefathers," identifying them as European settlers.

Patriot Front members marched behind drummers near the U.S. Capitol and Union Station before taking Metro trains to a D.C. suburb.

Burgum declined to say whether he condemned Patriot Front or would recommend that President Donald Trump condemn it. ‌

Demonstrators on Washington's National Mall who criticize Trump enjoy the ⁠same rights, "yet they're allowed to go on because of free speech in our ​country," Burgum said.
