The U.S. House of Representatives will pass the Senate's reconciliation bill funding immigration enforcement because "Republicans understand the importance of securing the border," Rep. Randy Fine, R-Fla., told Newsmax on Monday.
Speaking on Newsmax's "Wake Up America Early," Fine said House Republicans are expected to vote on the Senate-approved reconciliation package as soon as Tuesday, sending the legislation to President Donald Trump's desk.
"Word on the street is that we'll vote on the reconciliation package tomorrow," Fine said.
"I do believe that Republicans understand the importance of securing the border and deporting every single illegal immigrant. And so I do anticipate that it will pass and finally be off to the president's desk."
The sweeping measure advances key Republican priorities, including increased funding for immigration enforcement, border security operations, and other federal spending initiatives.
Because the bill is moving through the budget reconciliation process, it can pass the Senate with a simple majority rather than the typical 60-vote threshold.
Fine said House lawmakers are unlikely to make any changes to the legislation approved by the Senate.
"None," Fine said when asked whether additional negotiations were taking place.
"I think we're going to pass the Senate bill as is. If we were to amend it, we would have to send it back to the Senate. And I think we've seen how dysfunctional they are over there. So I think that's the last thing anybody wants to do."
Republicans have argued that the legislation is essential to helping the Trump administration carry out its aggressive immigration enforcement agenda amid record illegal immigration levels experienced during the Biden administration.
Fine said securing the border and removing illegal immigrants remain top priorities for GOP lawmakers.
The Florida congressman also weighed in on California's vote-counting process, where ballot counting continues days after last week's primary elections.
Fine accused California Democrats of undermining public confidence by allowing lengthy ballot-counting periods and argued that delayed election results invite skepticism.
"Not having results on election night is a choice," Fine said. "When the radical leftist loses on election night, goes out and concedes and then magically wins after a flood of ballots magically show up, people justifiably have a reason to say, 'Wait, what's going on here?'"
California election officials have defended the state's counting procedures, noting that mail ballots postmarked by Election Day may arrive and be counted for days afterward under state law.
