Social media influencer and 2028 Palm Beach, Florida, mayoral candidate Peter Bart Simel, better known as "Palm Beach Pete," told Newsmax Wednesday that public response to his campaign has been overwhelmingly positive as he promotes a platform that includes a mix of serious and unconventional proposals.

Speaking on Newsmax's "Bianca Across the Nation," Simel said the reaction to his mayoral bid has exceeded his expectations.

"The feedback is crazy. It's really crazy. The whole thing is beyond my wildest dreams," he said.

"Everybody is extremely positive. I get great feedback."

Simel said encouragement from supporters and advisers helped spur his decision to run.

"My team decided let's run for mayor, let's make Palm Beach cool," he said. "So that's how that started."

Simel, who has built a social media following by showcasing Palm Beach's luxury lifestyle, has attracted attention for campaign proposals that include free Botox treatments, additional pickleball courts, a complimentary dog-walking service, access to a convertible vehicle, and what he described as "mother-in-law counseling."

When asked which proposals he considered most important, Simel replied, "All of the above," adding that his goal is "to make Palm Beach life living much better for all the residents on the island."

He also addressed social media comparisons between his appearance and that of the late financier Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender who once had a residence in Palm Beach.

"I'm a viral human being. I can't help that I look like him," Simel said.

"And I'm making the most of the situation and staying positive. That's how I approach it," he continued.

"I'm a better-looking version than that person."
