Monica Crowley told Newsmax on Thursday that organizers are "moving heaven and Earth" to ensure visitors for the America250 celebrations remain safe amid heightened concerns about threats against President Donald Trump.
On "Finnerty," Crowley, the ambassador and chief of protocol of the United States, said security planning has been central to preparations for the nation's 250th anniversary celebration, which begins later this month with a series of events in Washington.
"When the president came into office for this term, he promised the American people the most exciting, momentous celebration in our nation's history to celebrate our big 250th birthday," Crowley said. "And that is exactly what we are going to deliver, thanks to his leadership, vision, and persistence."
Crowley said organizers are "working very closely with the United States Secret Service, with the Department of Homeland Security, with Washington Metro Police and other law enforcement to make sure that every single visitor who comes to Washington, D.C., will be safe and protected.
"That means ramped-up security. All of our events are free of charge. But you do have to register at Freedom250.org. You have to register, get your names into the system."
Her comments come less than two weeks after a man opened fire near a White House security checkpoint while Trump was present in the White House.
Secret Service officers returned fire, killing the man. No agents were injured, though a bystander was struck during the exchange, according to authorities.
Asked whether further precautions are being taken because of threats against Trump, Crowley said: "Anytime you move a president, anytime you've got any kind of event, of course, the utmost precautions are taken. And in this case, certainly it will be no exception."
Crowley also praised Trump's resolve despite multiple attempts on his life.
"The president, though, is absolutely fearless, and the president understands that you can never let the dark forces win," she said. "So, he is determined to be leading the charge in helping America celebrate our big 250th birthday."
The celebration is scheduled to include a UFC event at the White House on June 14, the Great American State Fair beginning June 25, and a July Fourth "massive salute to America," Crowley said.
