House Republican Conference Chair Lisa McClain, R-Mich., told Newsmax that House Republicans are working to develop a new reconciliation bill that includes parts of the SAVE America Act and assistance for American farmers.

McClain told Newsmax's "National Report" Wednesday that while farm-related spending is important, "The game plan is first and foremost to make sure that we get the SAVE America Act done. The president is really focused on this piece of legislation to make sure that the elections are free and fair."

McClain said the next priority is helping farmers. "Second, is we're trying to help the farmers out," she said, "And the third is we're trying to backfill the [military] munitions."

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., posted Monday: "House Republicans continue to drive towards a budget resolution which would begin the process for Reconciliation 3.0 legislation that will include our nation’s most immediate priorities."

McClain said things are moving quickly. "So that's the plan going forward. We'll have a budget markup and then move forward with that piece of legislation on [the] floor next week."

The Michigan Republican said rebuilding military stockpiles of weapons and equipment after the attacks against Iran and supplying weapons to Ukraine could benefit from reduced government regulation.

McClain said, "I have a lot of faith in our manufacturers, but what our manufacturers need is they need government to get out of the way with less regulation, which we tackled in the one big beautiful bill. I believe in our innovation, and I believe in our manufacturing. If we can just get out of the way, let them do what they need to do and what they can do best."

President Donald Trump is expected to urge top defense executives Wednesday to accelerate weapons production and expand manufacturing capacity as wars in Ukraine and the Middle East strain U.S. stockpiles and expose bottlenecks in the nation's industrial base.

Trump is scheduled to participate in a roundtable discussion capping a two-day Defense and Innovation Summit ‌hosted by Republican Sen. Dave McCormick at the U.S. Army War College in Pennsylvania.
