President Donald Trump has a 50% favorability rating, according to the latest political survey by pollster John McLaughlin, who told Newsmax on Wednesday that the poll measured voter sentiment toward the president.
"What's going on is President Trump succeeding," McLaughlin told "Ed Henry: The Big Take."
"You're seeing that the Democrats realize that Trump has built the Republican Party into a working-class party, represents American values. And he's succeeding."
McLaughlin said Democrats lack a unifying message comparable to President Donald Trump's "Make America Great Again" slogan.
"They're trying to stop us from having a growing economy. They want to raise taxes," he said.
"They want bigger government. These are big-government socialists," McLaughlin continued.
"They don't share our values."
He said his latest polling, which at airtime had not been fully released, showed strong positioning for Trump as the undisputed leader of the Republican Party.
"And President Trump is the most patriotic president I've ever met. So when you look at what's going on — his numbers, in spite of negative media and these radical big-government socialists — he's succeeding," he said.
McLaughlin said Trump has enough voter support to play a decisive role in the midterm elections.
"The Republicans only have 43% of the generic ballot for Congress. The Trump voters have to come back out," he said.
"And he's the person that can motivate them, even though he's not on the ballot."
McLaughlin said Trump's conservative policies will drive voter turnout in the midterm elections.
"And he's doing it on the issues, whether it's voter ID, whether it's tax cuts, whether it's securing the borders, or even winning in his war against Iran, because we want Iran not to have nuclear weapons."
