Epstein Aide Says She Arranged Calls With Trump

Lesley Groff, who spent many years as an assistant to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, told the House Oversight Committee on Tuesday she arranged phone calls between the New York financier and President Donald Trump.

"I believe she referred to a time before, before Mr. Trump was president, that she did arrange for multiple phone calls between the two," said Rep. Stephen Lynch, D-Mass.

Rep. Melanie Stansbury, D-N.M., said that Groff arranged calls between Epstein and Trump, but the contacts were not frequent.

Groff was testifying as part of the committee's investigation into Epstein, who died while in federal prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. His death was ruled a suicide.

White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson said Trump has been exonerated on anything related to Epstein.

"And by releasing thousands of pages of documents, cooperating with the House Oversight Committee's subpoena request, signing the Epstein Files Transparency Act, and calling for more investigations into Epstein's Democrat friends, President Trump has done more for Epstein's victims than anyone before him," Jackson said in a statement.

While Groff has never been charged with any wrongdoing, a lawsuit filed against the Epstein estate describes her as "Epstein's secretary who made travel arrangements for the girls, tended to their living needs, and scheduled massage sessions."

She is also mentioned more than 150,000 times in the Department of Justice's files on Epstein, which were released last year.

At the hearing, Groff told lawmakers she did not see Epstein engage in misconduct, a claim Lynch questioned.

"He was a registered sex offender, and she arranged young women for massages with a registered sex offender, and I just question whether, whether she can rightfully and truthfully maintain that she saw nothing improper," Lynch said.

Rep. Suhas Subramanyam, D-Va., said he was looking forward to getting Groff on the record.

"So that when we find out later she was lying, we can arrest her," Subramanyam said.
