Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, ripped the Supreme Court for upholding the birthright citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment in an appearance Tuesday on Newsmax.

"The United States Supreme Court issued an opinion today that is massively damaging to the national security and to the fabric of our country, and it is incumbent upon the United States Congress to respond," Roy said on "Rob Schmitt Tonight."

"We need to respond forcefully and quickly," he added. "We should not accept the premise that you must amend the Constitution to fix this aberration."

Roy said in light of the ruling, Congress should make sure no one comes into the United States for the foreseeable future.

"Certainly, no one who's pregnant," he said.

"There should be ramifications to this, and the Supreme Court needs to feel it," he said.

"We have a voice in what the Constitution says," Roy added.

"You can't just acquiesce to the court, essentially obliterating our sovereign nation by saying that you can have Chinese Communist women come here and birth children on our dirt, and they become citizens simply because they say so — that's absurd."

Roy called Chief Justice John Roberts "the most political animal in the entire District of Columbia."

"Ever since he basically manufactured a tax to save Obamacare," he said.

Roy said he believes Roberts was trying to make it less easy for Democrats to pack the court.

"Democrats are going to want to pack the court if they ever get the House and the Senate and the White House back, they're going to want to declare D.C. a state," he said.

"We've got to respond in kind. I want to reiterate the United States Congress needs to act.

"We need to state emphatically and clearly that subject to the jurisdiction thereof means precisely what the ratifiers of the 14th Amendment meant for it to be," Roy added. "And it wasn't this."

"We need to withhold funding, and we need to pause immigration," he continued. "If this is what you're going to declare the law is, then no one's coming in. We're not going to do this."
