Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, the Republican nominee for governor of New York, told Newsmax Thursday people must get out and vote if they want to prevent a socialist takeover.

In New York City, three far-left candidates were recently victorious in congressional primaries.

“Everybody should be concerned. This is dangerous,” Blakeman said on “National Report.”  “At first these were just weirdos with strange ideas that never worked in the past. And now they're winning elections.

“They're gaining power. It’s a tipping point here in New York,” Blakeman added. “It's a tipping point in America. These people don't have American values.

“They don't believe in the Judeo-Christian work ethic,” Blakeman continued. “They don't believe in the things that our parents and our grandparents taught us.”

As America celebrates its 250^th anniversary on Saturday, Blakeman said people need to register to vote and cast their ballot.

“Stop complaining. Get off your couch,” Blakeman said. “If you don't like these socialists, you got to vote, right?  The way you win is you win elections.

“[Socialists] have infiltrated our public education system, our universities. These are elitists who live in ivory towers,” Blakeman added. “They hate America. And we've let so many people into this country, immigrants that don't love America.

“They don't want to share American values,” Blakeman added. “We have a whole new wave of immigrants who just want free handouts.

“They come from countries that don't share our values, and they come here and they want to try and change us into the failed systems that they came from,” Blakeman continued.

Blakeman, who is running against incumbent Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul, said she is “completely subservient” to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and the Democratic Socialists.

“These people are communists. They're not socialists,” Blakeman said. “They talk about collectivism. That's another word for communism. They want to completely destroy our economic system and then our political system.

“They're gaining ground with uneducated people,” Blakeman added. “We haven't done the job that we're supposed to do with respect to educating people about capitalism, about American values, about how we're the greatest democracy in the world, how we have freedoms that other countries don't have and they crave for.”
