Retired Brig. Gen. Blaine Holt said Saturday on Newsmax's "The Count" that any agreement ending the conflict with Iran would amount to "terms of surrender" rather than a traditional diplomatic deal.
"The United States military has vaporized their military. This is victory," Holt said.
"This is terms of surrender, terms of 'this is what you're going to do now.'"
Holt predicted a postwar arrangement resembling "a Venezuela model," adding that "the IRGC is going away," the United States would be "welcomed in to take care of that uranium," and "there'll be a new free Iranian government."
While cautioning that such changes may not happen immediately, Holt noted President Donald Trump's flair for symbolism.
"Tomorrow is Flag Day, his birthday, the UFC day. Why not have the end of the Iran war?" he said.
"There are no coincidences here at all," he added.
Discussing prospects for a lasting peace, Holt argued that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps remains the key obstacle.
"Until the IRGC is basically neutralized, and the terrorist cells here in the United States are also neutralized, we're going to have a threat," he said.
Holt suggested Iran's future civilian leadership cannot publicly abandon nuclear ambitions while the IRGC remains intact.
"They can't say we're going to give up nuclear weapons, because if they did, the IRGC would put bullets in their heads tonight. That's their only leverage card."
He warned that as the IRGC faces what he called "an extermination event," there remains concern over whether it could activate terrorist cells in the United States.
Looking ahead, Holt said economic integration should be the incentive for a reformed Iran.
"Once we have Iran back into the world community, go to this thing called the Abraham Accords, get them involved, get them entangled in this, start new businesses, use the carrots," he said.
Holt concluded by predicting the decline of Iran's ruling Islamist establishment, arguing that "the Shia and the Islamic Republic of Iran [represent] only 7% of that population. They're going to go away."
