Republicans' most powerful Senate super PAC is setting fundraising records as the party tries to protect its upper chamber majority in the midterms.

The Senate Leadership Fund, the super PAC aligned with Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., has amassed $238 million in cash on hand, more than double what the group held at the same point in the previous election cycle under former GOP Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., according to Axios.

The record-breaking fundraising haul underscores Republicans' aggressive effort to defend their Senate majority while expanding the electoral map heading into November.

"I know there were some questions about who the next majority leader would be and can they fundraise at the level of Mitch McConnell," SLF Executive Director Alex Latcham told Axios.

"And I think those questions have certainly been put to rest."

Axios reported that the SLF's cash reserves climbed from $117 million at this stage in 2024 and $104 million in 2022.

During the second quarter alone, SLF and its nonprofit affiliate, One Nation, raised $140 million, surpassing the $115 million they collected in the first quarter.

Latcham credited Thune's fundraising efforts and the organization's success in attracting new contributors, noting that roughly one-third of donors are giving to SLF for the first time.

Republicans plan to use the financial advantage to defend GOP-held seats in states such as Iowa and Ohio while also taking the fight to Democrats in New Hampshire, Georgia, and Michigan.

Axios reported the groups intend to spend roughly $100 million on offensive efforts in those battlegrounds.

Democrats also posted a strong fundraising quarter.

According to The New York Times, Senate Majority PAC and its affiliated nonprofit, Majority Forward, raised $147 million from April through June.

However, the Democrat fundraising group entered July with $126 million in cash, well behind the Republican operation's $238 million war chest.

The Times reported Democrats face a difficult path to reclaiming the Senate, needing to gain at least four seats while defending vulnerable races of their own.

Party leaders have also been forced to regroup in Maine after Democrat Senate candidate Graham Platner suspended his campaign.

Republicans have consistently emphasized fundraising as a key advantage heading into the midterms, with President Donald Trump's political operation, the Republican National Committee and Senate-aligned groups all reporting strong donor support.

The latest figures suggest the GOP enters the final stretch of the campaign with a sizable financial edge as both parties prepare for what are expected to be some of the most expensive Senate races in history.
