A new Financial Times poll shows former Vice President Kamala Harris and Vice President JD Vance with commanding leads in the 2028 presidential race.
The poll, shared by RealClearPolitics, has Harris, the Democrat presidential nominee in 2024, leading the Democrat field with 37%. California Gov. Gavin Newsom is second with 17%, while former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, and Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear trail in single digits.
Vance leads the Republican field with 38%, followed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio at 18%, while Donald Trump Jr. polls at 10%.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. each poll in single digits.
A poll from Emerson College released last week showed Vance and Rubio running nearly even in the 2028 presidential race.
The poll found 36% of Republican primary voters backing Vance for the GOP nomination, while 35% backed Rubio. DeSantis and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley each received 5% support, while 15% of respondents said they were undecided.
President Donald Trump said in a podcast interview aired last week that a Vance-Rubio ticket would be unbeatable in 2028.
The Emerson poll showed markedly different results in the Democrat primary, with Buttigieg leading at 18% and Newsom close behind at 16%. Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., placed third with 11%, while Shapiro and Harris each received 10%. Beshear drew 9%, and 18% of Democrat voters said they remained undecided.
The Financial Times poll of 1,537 registered voters was conducted between May 29 and June 1. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.5 percentage points.
