Iran's Foreign Ministry criticized the joint statement by the United States and the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), saying it does not contribute to stabilizing the situation in the region.
"The Foreign Ministry considers the positions outlined in the June 25, 2026, statement by the U.S. Secretary of State [Marco Rubio] and the foreign ministers of the GCC countries to be aggressive, irresponsible, and provocative, warning of continued militaristic actions and interference in the region," Interfax news agency quoted the Iranian Foreign Ministry saying in a statement published on its Telegram channel.
The ministry noted that "it is now more obvious than ever that the U.S. military presence in the countries of the region is merely a burden on the peoples of the region and a factor of instability and division."
Tehran, in turn, expressed hope that regional states would reconsider their position on the presence of U.S. troops in the region.
Iran's Foreign Ministry advised the Gulf states not to support U.S. statements regarding Iran's nuclear program and instead to contribute to the creation of a nuclear weapon-free zone in the Middle East.
The ministry also recalled that Iran and Oman will regulate shipping in the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with the Iran-U.S. memorandum.
