A former girlfriend of Graham Platner, the Democratic Party's embattled U.S. Senate candidate in Maine, says he removed condoms without her consent while they were having sex.

Lyndsey Fifield, who dated Platner for two years and previously accused him of physical abuse, told The Washington Post she repeatedly told Platner that he must wear condoms when they had sex because she was not using birth control.

"He would pull condoms off," Fifield said. "He would do it in a sneaky way. He wouldn't tell me."

Platner's campaign denied the allegation, calling it "categorically false and politically motivated."

Fifield's allegation comes the day after Jenny Racicot alleged Platner sexually assaulted her in 2021.

Platner has faced numerous calls to withdraw from the race, including from Sens. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., who were early backers of his candidacy.

He was set to challenge Sen. Susan Collins, considered the most vulnerable Republican up for reelection this cycle.

Platner also denied Racicot's allegations and said he was "taking the time to reflect on the best path forward."

Fifield previously told the Post about the condom removal in an off-the-record interview last month. But the Post said she decided to speak publicly to show Racicot was not alone in experiencing issues with Platner involving sexual consent.

Fifield told the Post that Platner removed condoms without her consent at least six times when they had sex at their homes in D.C. during their on-and-off relationship.

She said Platner would joke about it.

"I confronted him both during and after [sex] because he knew that I was not on birth control and how dangerous that was," she said. "He would act like cute about it, like 'Oh, sneaky me.'"

Fifield previously told The New York Times that Platner grabbed her shoulders and her wrist and twisted her arm behind her back. Platner denied the allegations.
