A northern Minnesota election judge was sentenced to 30 days in Hubbard County Jail for accepting 11 ballots from unregistered voters in the 2024 general election. Timothy M. Scouton, 65, of Nevis, Minnesota . . . was convicted of a felony. He served as head election judge for Badoura Township. According to the statement of probable cause in the criminal complaint, Scouton allowed 11 people to cast ballots without completing voter registration applications, as required by law. . . . In November 2024, Scouton was charged with two felonies. The second offense, neglect of duty per the Election Day Act, was dropped as part of a plea deal. Scouton pleaded guilty in March 2026.
