California State Senator Scott Wiener, who is running for Nancy Pelosi’s House seat, was recently accosted by protesters for his stance on Israel, with one even telling the lawmaker he “stopped being queer” because of it. Charlie, on today’s edition of The Editors, says “it shows how weird the progressive conception of immutable characteristics has become.”

Charlie points out that progressives do this to Clarence Thomas and Tim Scott, claiming they’re “small ‘b’ black. And Scott Bessent is gay, but he’s small ‘g’ gay. . . . And Scott Wiener now is not queer because he has the wrong political views.”

“I don’t like this at all,” says Charlie. “I don’t like seeing it. I take no joy in it. I loathe Scott Wiener. I nevertheless think this is terrible for our society.”

“This is a guy who agrees with those people on most things, but because he is imperfect, then they’ve turned on him.”
