I highly recommend Ross Douthat’s podcast this week in which he interviews Peter Thiel, the Silicon Valley investor and thought leader who has started to warn the world about the coming of the Antichrist. Douthat probes him on his signature thesis about the great stagnation of technological progress (with a digital exception) since 1970.
I appreciate Peter’s attempt to be both an orthodox Christian thinker, while remaining an early modern futurist. Peter never fails to make a big impression on how I think. I’ve been chewing on a presentation he gave about California’s “tech curse” and America’s possibly related inability to come up with a new model for sustainable growth and innovation for a while now.
