Maybe, just maybe, if officials started holding people accountable for crimes in Los Angeles, especially juveniles, residents wouldn’t have to live in fear of becoming the next victim of a teen mob.
A group of teens looted a 7-Eleven in Los Angeles and threw merchandise in what can only be perceived as a culture of lawlessness because officials continue to turn a blind eye to this type of criminality.
The worst part? This isn’t even a rare occurrence. Time and again, we see juvenile gangs ransack stores as if their lives depend on it.
In April, nearly the same thing happened.
According to ABC:
Shocking video captured armed robberies at 7-Eleven stores across Southern California, which authorities say was part of a crime spree targeting several locations.Surveillance video shows a suspect in a gray hoodie pointing a gun at the store clerk demanding money at one location. In the video, the gunman can be heard telling him to relax and saying "I just want the money."
Now, I don’t know the ages of the people who committed that previous crime, but it’s irrelevant. Where do authorities think they get these ideas from? Time and again, no one is held accountable, and if you act surprised by this, you are not paying attention.
According to a Sept. 2024 article from the New York Post:
A group of about 50 rowdy teens ransacked a Los Angeles 7-Eleven Friday night, the second attack in the last two months at the store, according to media reports. The mob of 12- to 15-year-olds on bikes allegedly stole an unknown amount of merchandise, including snacks, from the 7-Eleven on West Olympic Boulevard in the Pico-Robertson neighborhood, FOX 11 reported. The thieves did not take off with any money, the outlet said.
Back in my day, which was like yesterday, teens did not do these sorts of things on the weekend. Kids would be scared to pocket even one bag of chips. That is because, at one point in time, crime was, in fact, illegal.
Sadly, until officials start holding these wannabe thugs accountable, don't expect anything but more of the same.
