Planned Parenthood abortion revenue estimated at over $200M annually | Live Action

Planned Parenthood has long been the most prolific abortion provider in the United States, with its most recent report showing more than 402,000 abortions committed in just one year — but it doesn't typically report how much money is made directly from those abortions.

However, using the average abortion costs published by Planned Parenthood, it is now estimated that revenue from the corporation's abortions exceeds $200 million each year, and that this money comprises nearly 70% of all of the corporation's reported "non-government health services revenue."

Key Takeaways:

Based on Planned Parenthood's claims about the amount it charges for various types of abortion procedures, its annual revenue from abortion exceeds $200 million.

This equates to the vast majority of its "non-government health services revenue."

By The Numbers:

In 2025, Planned Parenthood released its 2023-24 annual report, showing that abortions increased to 402,230. This is the highest number recorded to date.

During that time frame, Planned Parenthood held 40% of the abortion market share, killing an average of 1,102 preborn human beings daily by abortion — nearly 46 per hour, and one every 78 seconds.

Revenue: Abortion pill sales

Planned Parenthood’s report does not break down how many abortions were committed by the abortion pill, yet a recent claim from the president of the organization has indicated that 70% of abortion sales (nearly 282,000 in 2023-24) at Planned Parenthood are now committed by this method.

In an "Ask the Experts" blog post published in April of 2025, Planned Parenthood wrote, “The average cost of [the abortion pill] at Planned Parenthood is around $580.”

Lets do the math: 70% of 402,230 is 281,561 abortions. Multiply that by $580 each = $163.3 M

Average cost of abortion at Planned ParenthoodRevenue: In-clinic abortion

Planned Parenthood's blog states:

An in-clinic abortion in the first trimester can cost up to around $800, but it’s often less. The average cost of a first trimester in-clinic abortion at Planned Parenthood is about $600. The cost of a second trimester abortion at Planned Parenthood varies depending on how many weeks pregnant you are. If early in the second trimester, the average cost is $715. If later in the second trimester, it can be between $1,500-2,000.

While Planned Parenthood commits abortions up through 24 weeks of pregnancy at specific locations, Live Action News has decided to use the more conservative average cost of $600 for first trimester in-clinic procedures.

Here is how the math breaks down:

  • 402,230 (total abortions) - 281,561 (estimated abortion pill abortions) = 120,669

  • 120,669 x $600  = $72.4M

  • Most non-government health services revenue comes from abortion

Planned Parenthood's 2023-24 annual report shows they took in $350.5M in "Non-Government Health Services Revenue."

Planned Parenthood Health Services Revenue 2023 to 24

The annual report does not break down what services those figures entail; however, we have estimated that abortion is the majority of that revenue category.

Let's do the math: Live Action News added the above abortion revenue categories together ($72.4 + $163.3) to estimate that Planned Parenthood is likely taking in at least $235.7 million in abortion revenue alone each year.

This means that while Planned Parenthood claims abortion is a small part of what they do, it is likely that the revenue generated by abortion is nearly 70% of all "Non-Government Health Services Revenue."

    The Bottom Line:

While Planned Parenthood has attempted to downplay its abortion business for years, portraying it as only 3-4% of its total "services," the truth is that the vast majority of its revenue that doesn't come out of taxpayers' pockets is coming from the killing of innocent, preborn children.
