Trump's new passport design coincides with the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence

President Donald Trump revealed a redesigned American passport displaying his image.

"The U.S.A.'s New Passport, which says, "Welcome, but be good!" President DJT," Trump posted on his Truth Social alongside a photograph of the passport.

It remains uncertain where within the passport the text appears.

The White House announced back in April this year that a passport would be issued as part of commemorations for the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence in July, reports the Mirror U.S.

The design represents a limited-edition release to mark the significant milestone in the U.S. and would purportedly be accessible to "any American citizen" who requests a passport and would also be obtainable at the Washington Passport Agency.

The design has already generated divided responses on social media with some declaring it the "most patriotic US passport ever."

Others have also described it as a passport for "patriots."

One posted: "President Trump just unveiled this new EPIC passport."

Another stated: "President Trump unveils EPIC new US passport for patriots. Cue the meltdowns!".

However, others have expressed skepticism about it with some challenging Trump's presence in the image as he is positioned in front of the Declaration of Independence.

One remarked: "The United States has 250 years of history, and Trump still looked at the passport and thought: Needs more me."

Another remarked: "Thank God: the Trump image passport is a limited-edition commemorative passport, not the standard passport that most Americans receive."

Others have also raised questions about Trump's phrase "Welcome, but be good!" and some have speculated that he has mixed up passport issuance with citizenship approval.

One posted: "Is Trump confusing a passport with being granted citizenship? You only need a passport to travel to other countries. I guess it's okay to presume other countries will welcome American citizens and it's definitely a good thing that we should be good when we're guest of that country."

Another responded: "US passport is not the same as visa for entering US but Trump doesn't know that."
