A conspiracy theory has been gaining traction online after people began to notice a pattern with the president’s mysterious hand bruise.

The president has been periodically sporting a large bruise on his hand over the past several months. His team has repeatedly dodged questions about the cause of the bruise. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt even blamed the mark on the president shaking too many hands.

Naturally, the lack of explanation left room for the internet to speculate. Some users began to notice that the bruise, which comes and goes, tends to show up around the same date every month.

The theory began on X, where one user, @ChrisCroy, claimed they had been tracking the bruise since February 24 2025, when Trump welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron to the White House, with a large, gnarly looking bruise on his hand. It comes after Melania Trump's awkward reaction to Donald's UN speech was exposed on camera.

“I glanced at a bunch of news articles about the recurring bruise on the back of Trump's right hand (which people have noticed since 2024) and they are oddly clustered around the 24th of the month,” the X user wrote.

“That suggests he's getting an infusion every month,” they continued. Other users agreed, adding their own evidence to the theory that Trump retreats once a month for an infusion.

@allenanalysis wrote on X, “Unverified reports say Trump receives monthly blood infusions between the 20th–24th. Slurred speech? Fatigue? Watch his clips around those dates. Something’s clearly off and it’s not just the rhetoric.”

Today, the president added fuel to the rumor mill by staying out of sight. Trump had no scheduled public appearances today, September 24, and on X, users pointed out that he also took a suspiciously long time to respond to the shooting at an ICE facility in Dallas, Texas.

Dr Gareth Nye, a lecturer at the University of Salford, told the Daily Star that the bruises on Trump’s hand could indeed be “from an IV drip” as the discolouration resembled the kind left by a needle insertion.

In recent years, IV vitamin drips have become a popular wellness trend, enjoyed by many celebrities, like Rihanna, Adele, and the Kardashian family to name just a few.

NAD+ jabs are particularly popular. NAD is a coenzyme found in all living cells, and is essential for DNA repair and energy production. It is typically administered directly into the bloodstream over 2-4 hours.

On social media, users think this might explain Trump’s absence on certain days, along with the reappearance of the bruise at certain times of the month.
