‘One Battle,’ ‘Sentimental Value,’ ‘Sinners’ lead 2026 Golden Globe Awards nominations: Complete list

www.goldderby.com

Last week's flurry of critics' picks, nominations, and awards was the warm-up act: today, the Oscar season kicked into overdrive with the 2026 Golden Globe nominations.

And there were some doozies.

Mixed in among the usual suspects in the solidifying awards race — your One Battle After Anothers, Sentimental Values, Sinners, Hamnets, and Frankensteins — were some early-morning eye-openers. Wicked: For Good was gone from the list of Best Musical/Comedy Film contenders, perhaps an indication of struggles ahead of the guild and Oscar nominations. Meanwhile, some big stars considered also-rans to this point got on the board with needed nominations, including Julia Roberts for After the Hunt and Dwayne Johnson for The Smashing Machine.

The Globes, now in its 83rd year, are known for tossing some curveballs into awards season, but overall, as noted above, the Best Drama Film field provided little, well, drama: Frankenstein, Hamnet, It Was Just an Accident, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value, and Sinners made the final cut. All of those are considered Oscar contenders based on the Gold Derby prediction data. Notably missing, however, is James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash; although the threequel doesn't arrive until later in the month, it looks to be on the bubble of Academy Award viability and today's snub won't help in the momentum department. (Like Wicked: For Good, it got a consolation nod in the catch-all Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category.)

Things got weirder in the Best Musical/Comedy Film slate. With Wicked: For Good MIA, the field was a curiosity show beyond the juggernaut One Battle After Another and the quickly ascending Marty Supreme, with Blue Moon, Bugonia, No Other Choice, Pillion, and Nouvelle Vague filling out the field.

With the films divvied up between two categories, there's some difficulty in reading tea leaves for the Oscars, which is why the Best Director category is one to watch. The Globes seemed aligned with the Gold Derby odds, with Paul Thomas Anderson (One Battle After Another), Ryan Coogler (Sinners), Guillermo del Toro, (Frankenstein), Jafar Panahi (It Was Just an Accident), Joachim Trier (Sentimental Value), and Chloé Zhao (Hamnet) all firmly in the Oscar mix.

On the television slate, there was the expected strong showings from recent Emmy champions Adolescence (Best Limited Series), The Studio (Best Comedy Series), and The Pitt (Best Drama Series). The White Lotus led all comers with six nominations, thanks to a slew of acting nods.

This year's field will also include, for the first time, a Best Podcast category. Because the category covers all podcasts, not just entertainment-related shows, the first-ever batch of nominees ran the gamut with Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard, Call Her Daddy, Good Hang With Amy Poehler, SmartLess, The Mel Robbins Podcast, and Up First comprising the category.

The Golden Globes will be presented on Jan. 11, with Nikki Glaser returning to host.
