The Media's Organized Campaign Against Transing Kids

It’s not that they’re wrong, but it’s that the whole thing reeks of an organized campaign dictated by politics.

In the past week, we’ve had multiple mainstream media articles and op-eds correctly attacking the process of transing kids.

The Liberal Misinformation Bubble About Youth Gender Medicine – The Atlantic

U.S. v. Skrmetti: How the Transgender Rights Movement Bet on the Supreme Court and Lost – New York Times

Opinion | I co-wrote the anonymous HHS report on pediatric gender medicine – Washington Post

How the Gay Rights Movement Radicalized, and Lost Its Way – New York Times

Some of these are good pieces. They show that liberals and the media are capable of seriously examining the issue. And they chose not to for a decade.

And that’s part of it.

Much like suddenly announcing that Biden was out of it after pretending otherwise for years, ‘truths’ are suddenly being spoken. But why are they being spoken? One of the limited conclusions drawn from 2024 was that elements of the transgender movement had become a burden and were too likely to offend ordinary Americans. The one they seem to have settled on getting rid of is transing kids at the most immediate provocation. Nothing wrong with trying to rein in a woke medieval horror show except that it’s dishonest.

Just as with Biden, there’s a sudden reckoning in which liberals concede to what everyone else knew all along. But the reckoning (much as with Biden) is highly selective and appears orchestrated with a flurry of pieces using similar reasoning and language appearing within days of each other in publications that would never have touched the topic before. The arguments are correct but the process just shows off how the left side of the aisle functions like the old Communist party system with righthink becoming wrongthinking and wrongthink becoming righthink all because some herd signal was sent. And now ‘the truth can be told’.

Is this happening because of some revelation or true sense of perception? No. The party recalculated what appeals to the public and decided to take a one step backward, two steps forward approach. There’s no large reckoning. And the reckoning that is taking place is not being done in good faith. Much as the same people who told us Biden was fine began yelling that he needed to step down, the same machine that tried to purge people for minor dissent on transgender issues, is suddenly starting to tell the truth, not because it believes in it, but because it’s what the party wants.

And that’s creepy.
