A helicopter crashed into the water near Lake St. Clair on the Michigan side of the shoreline Sunday afternoon, authorities confirmed.

The chopper reportedly went down at or near the popular Cabana Blue restaurant in Clay Township while attempting to land on a vacant lot next to the eatery along Anchor Bay.

In a video published by Click On Detroit, a vibrant red helicopter is seen hovering over the vacant lot before suddenly tipping upward, its tail lifting into the air.

Moments later, the aircraft flips onto its side and crashes to the ground.

Bystanders can be heard screaming as the chopper disappears in a cloud of dust and debris.

Despite the chaos, no injuries have been reported.

According to Clay Township police, the helicopter was privately owned.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

DailyMail.com has reached out to the Lake St. Clair Police Department and the Clay Township Police Department for additional information.

This incident comes just months after a devastating helicopter crash in New York City that killed a family of five vacationing from Spain.

AgustĂn Escobar, a Siemens executive, his wife Merce Camprubi Montal, and their three young children - aged four, eight, and ten - were aboard a sightseeing flight when their chopper plunged into the Hudson River at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 10.

The family had just arrived from Barcelona and were on their first day exploring New York.

The scenic tour was meant to take them around the Statue of Liberty and up to the George Washington Bridge to celebrate one of their daughters' birthdays.

Footage from the crash appears to show a rotor blade detaching mid-flight and plummeting into the river.

Aviation experts have suggested that the main rotor may have separated from the aircraft and struck the tail, triggering a catastrophic failure.
