- Ram adds a new turbodiesel to the 2027 Power Wagon lineup.
- 6.7-liter Cummins engine makes 430 hp and 1,075 lb-ft torque.
- Truck arrives in late 2026 starting at $88,470 including fees.
Ram has been paying attention to fans and great things are happening as a result. The company got the ball rolling with the return of the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 and now they’re adding a diesel engine to the 2027 Power Wagon.
This has been long overdue as diesel engines and heavy duty trucks go together like peanut butter and jelly. However, the company had forced customers to settle for a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 developing 405 hp (302 kW / 411 PS) and 429 lb-ft (582 Nm) of torque.

While the Hemi’s perfectly fine, its maximum towing capacity peaks at 10,590 lbs (4,804 kg) in the Power Wagon. That’s nothing to sneeze at, but the new diesel-powered variant can haul nearly 20,000 lbs (9,072 kg).

Speaking of the engine, it’s a familiar 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel inline-six producing 430 hp (321 kW / 436 PS) and 1,075 lb-ft (1,456 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard four-wheel drive system.
The Power Wagon’s closest competitor is the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 ZR2 and the duo are pretty evenly matched in terms of power. The diesel-powered Chevy has the edge at 470 hp (350 kW / 477 PS), but it’s down on torque at 975 lb-ft (1,320 Nm).
Classic Power Wagon With A Twist
Diesel engine aside, this is pretty much your typical Power Wagon. As a result, it’s a crew cab pickup with a 6’4” bed. The model also has black powder-coated bumpers, extended fender flares, and Satin Black 20-inch wheels wrapped in 34-inch all-terrain tires. They’re joined by a sport performance hood, bedside graphics, and Cummins badging on the front fenders.
More notably, the truck has rock rails, skid plates, and solid axles. They’re joined by electronic-locking front and rear differentials as well as an off-road focused suspension with Bilstein shocks and a class-exclusive electronic disconnecting sway bar. Rounding out the highlights are 12.6 inches (320 mm) of ground clearance as well as approach, departure, and breakover angles of 26.1, 26.0, and 20.6 degrees.

Moving inside, buyers will find a heated cloth bench seat and a six-speaker audio system. They’re joined by an integrated trailer brake controller and a 12-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment system.
Customers can get an assortment of upscale options including leather bucket seats with heating and ventilation. The truck also offers a sunroof and a larger 14.5-inch infotainment system. Other niceties include a dual wireless smartphone charger and premium audio systems with nine- or 17-speakers.
The diesel-powered Ram 2500 Power Wagon arrives in the second half of 2026 and pricing starts at $88,470 including destination.
