Is WNBA Star Sophie Cunningham Eyeing a New Career?
Sophie Cunningham, a 29-year-old guard for the Indiana Fever, has gained significant popularity in the WNBA, particularly for her role as an enforcer alongside Caitlin Clark.
Known for her strong social media presence, Cunningham co-hosts the podcast “Show Me Something” with reality TV star West Wilson.
During a recent episode, she revealed her lifelong passion for WWE wrestling, citing favorites like John Cena, Kane, and Hulk Hogan, and sharing how she and her sister used to wrestle as kids.
“I grew up on that s*** WWE baby!” Cunningham said. “Me and [my sister] Lindsey used to wrestle all the time, and our parents would have to call it. But like Kane, Hulk. Oh my God. I used to watch the Hulk all the time, the reality TV show. But John Cena was just the absolute best, man.”
Sophie Cunningham has been approached to wrestleSophie Cunningham teased a potential career shift, stating that she has been approached to participate in wrestling. She even suggested a tag team with her co-host.
“They asked me to do it,” she told Wilson. “You know, maybe after I retire or off-season, maybe us two will be the new WWE duo.”
Wilson didn’t seem interested, saying he was too bright and realized that wrestling is scripted. Which is just about the dumbest thing you could possibly say. Not exactly a revelation there, Chief.
“I don’t know, I was a very thoughtful child, and I knew it was fake,” Wilson said. “I just could never buy into it.”
He must never watch movies or television shows either.

Did WWE come a-callin’?The fact that Sophie Cunningham has been approached to do some professional wrestling is not a new revelation. But if WWE came calling, that would be significant news. That would be different.
Cunningham caught the attention of some pro wrestling executives over the summer due to her fierce role as an enforcer on the team. When the Fever signed Cunningham, she made it quite clear that she was ready to support Clark and handle any intimidation or physical tactics opponents might dole out.
“Just the competitor that I am, I’m fierce, I’m sassy,” Cunningham said. “I stick up for my teammates. I stick up for myself. Sometimes, I think that’s okay to be feisty and be yourself.”
She proved her mettle pretty quickly.

Women of Wrestling (WOW) co-owner Jeanie Buss (you may remember her as the President of the Los Angeles Lakers) praised Cunningham’s talent and competitiveness, expressing interest in having her join the promotion.
“We would love to have [Sophie] join us at [WOW],” Buss wrote on X. “She is talented, dedicated, and a fierce competitor!”
She is all of those things. But if WWE has an idea to bring her in, she’ll be heading there first. And likely making a lot more to do it than she’s making with the WNBA.
