President Trump Weighs in on Decision to Have Bad Bunny Play Super Bowl

President Donald Trump criticized the NFL‘s selection of Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny as the headliner for the Super Bowl halftime show, describing it as “absolutely ridiculous” and “crazy.”
Trump made the comments during an interview with Newsmax this past weekend.
Though he admitted to being unfamiliar with Bad Bunny, the President still railed against the decision and suggested NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is more responsible for it than he’s letting on.
“I never heard of him, I don’t know who he is, I don’t know why they’re doing it, it’s like crazy,” Trump said.
The President continued criticizing the league, pointing out, as he often does, that certain rule changes, such as the absurd kickoff setup, are “ruining football.”
Why the controversy with Bad Bunny?.@POTUS on loser @sanbenito (aka "Bad Bunny") and the NFL: "I've never heard of him. I don't know who he is… I think it's absolutely ridiculous — and while we're at it, I'd like to change the kickoff rule." 🤣 pic.twitter.com/zrksEJvqVc

Bad Bunny is an entertainer with crossover appeal beyond his music. So why the controversy?
Well, one, it’s yet another example of the league trying to cash in by drawing in non-football fans to its biggest event of the year. Why they didn’t opt for Taylor Swift here to achieve that could be debated.
And two, at least when it comes to the President, the musician whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, criticized immigration enforcement efforts at his concerts.
“There was the issue of — like, (expletive) ICE could be outside my concert,” he said in an interview with Variety. “It was something we were very concerned about.”
Amping up the controversy, DHS Secretary Krisit Noem has vowed to send ICE agents to the Super Bowl.

“We’ll be all over that place. We are going to enforce the law. You shouldn’t be coming to the Super Bowl unless you are a law abiding American citizen.”… pic.twitter.com/r4GbYd4CZZ
