Taylor Swift Explains Why She Turned Down Super Bowl Halftime Show

Football fans have found it perplexing that the NFL didn’t capitalize on the Taylor SwiftTravis Kelce wedding phenomenon to have the Pop Princess perform at the Super Bowl halftime show.

Instead, they opted for what has turned out to be an even more controversial choice in Bad Bunny.

Swift, though, during an appearance on The Tonight Show on Monday, revealed why she opted not to take the gig. It has nothing to do with money, she insists.

It’s because she’s just too darned “locked in” on football.

“We are always able to tell him the truth,” Swift said of Jay-Z’s team, who produces the halftime show. “Which is that I am in love with a guy who does that sport on that actual field. That is violent chess, that is gladiators without swords, that is dangerous.”

Taylor Swift is too locked in

Taylor Swift went on to reveal that she didn’t feel right prioritizing choreography while Kelce risks his life on the field each week.

“The whole season, I am locked in on what that man is doing on the field. Can you imagine if he’s like out there, every single week, putting his life on the line, doing this very dangerous, very high-pressure, high-intensity sport, and I’m like, ‘I wonder what my choreo should be?'” Swift explained why it would be awkward.

“This has nothing to do with Travis. He would love for me to do it, I’m just too locked in,” she added.

Travis might not be telling you not to do it, but it definitely has something to do with it if you’re making a decision based on how he feels.

That said, there’s nothing wrong with Swift’s reasoning. In fact, it’s rather admirable. If, on the off chance, the Chiefs actually make it to the Super Bowl this season, why would she want the focus of the sporting world to be on her?

So much in love

Taylor Swift’s appearance was meant to help promote her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, which is heavily laced with songs about Kelce and their relationship.

That includes a controversial song titled “Wood,” something super Swiftie Dave Portnoy refuses to listen to because it gives a “raunchy” explanation of how Kelce made the notoriously boyfriend-hopping Swift feel.

Still, Patrick Mahomes said the team doesn’t mind rocking out to the music.

And while she’s “locked in” on football, Taylor Swift thinks football wants to be locked in on her.

“Thanks for having me on my favorite podcast,” Swift said during a recent appearance on the Kelce brothers’ “New Heights” podcast. “As we all know, you guys have a lot of male sports fans that listen to your podcast.”

“And I think we all know that if there’s one thing that male sports fans want to see in their spaces and on their screens, it’s more of me,” she joked.

Sportsnaut reported that Swift and Kelce will be involved in a wedding befitting royalty here in the States, while having real-world family connections to European royalty.
