Protesters, expected in the tens of thousands, took to the streets in Minneapolis and other cities Saturday to participate in "ICE Out For Good" protests and vigils, following the fatal shooting of a woman by an ICE agent.

The big picture: The death of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good and a separate Border Patrol shooting in Portland have ignited widespread outrage over the Trump administration's immigration tactics — and fueled criticism of federal agencies' defense of the incident.

  • Events organized by groups including Indivisible, 50501, the Disappeared in America Campaign, Voto Latino and the American Civil Liberties Union, are aimed at humanizing victims and demanding accountability and transparency from federal law enforcement.

Zoom out: Leila Miller, a spokesperson for Indivisible, a grassroots movement, told Axios on Saturday, 67,000 people RSVP'd to attend more than 1,000 protests.

State of play: On Wednesday, Good was shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis as she drove past immigration agents. The Trump administration claimed the shooting was an act of self-defense as Good drove away, but Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has rejected that claim.

  • On Thursday, two people were shot by Border Patrol agents in Portland during what officials said was "a targeted vehicle stop." Both were hospitalized.
