Rich Man Who Shoved Woman In Front of a Bus Has Been Arrested 9 Years Later - AOL
A man in London, England, has been arrested in connection with an incident that happened back in 2017. At the time, a woman had been shoved toward the path of a bus, and while she escaped what could have been a fatal incident unscathed, the identity of the man responsible remained unknown for years.
As reported by the BBC, a 44-year-old man, whose identity is yet to be released, was arrested. He was booked on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm.
The arrest comes more than nine years after an incident on Putney Bridge. On May 5, 2017, a woman was walking on the bridge while another man was jogging in the opposite direction.
As seen in the footage attached below, the pair eventually crossed paths. The man appears to shove the woman toward the roadway, where a bus was passing dangerously close by.
A Tragedy Swerved AwayThe video footage, recorded from another vehicle's rear dashcam, shows the then-33-year-old woman falling to the ground. She managed to avoid falling fully into the roadway and sat on the edge of the road.
At the time, a red bus driver was traveling right next to where the woman fell. The driver, Oliver Salbris, acted quickly and swerved to avoid what could have been a tragedy.
"If I hadn't swerved, I would have smashed her head," Salbris said shortly after the incident. "It was reflex. The consequences would have been terrible for her and for me."

Sgt Mat Knowls agreed, adding at the time, "The victim was put in extreme danger when she was knocked into the road. It was only due to the superb quick reactions of the bus driver that she was not hit by the vehicle."
An Investigation, ClosedAs per The Standard, the man involved in the incident returned to the scene 15 minutes after allegedly shoving the woman. She tried to confront him over it, but the man jogged away, ignoring her.
Footage of the incident quickly went viral at the time. Reportedly, many online users came together in support of the woman, even discussing raising funds to help identify the man seen in the clip, who was dubbed the "Putney Pusher."
However, after police interviewed more than 50 potential suspects, the investigation eventually stalled. In 2018, the probe into the incident was shut down.
Potential IdentityWhile the man arrested by the Metropolitan Police remains in custody in connection with the incident, his identity has not been publicly released. However, in an exclusive report, The Daily Mail might have identified him.
According to the outlet, the man is a multimillionaire banker who was detained at his €1.4 million home in London. The Daily Mail also reported that the suspect has connections to members of the British royal family, though police have not publicly identified the man.
The incident remains under investigation.
