Who is Nithya Raman and how did she do that?
I’ve always believed people get the government, and all that flows from that government, they deserve. Repeatedly vote for Marxist/Islamist Democrats, and you get what you deserve. It’s the worst of all possible worlds, and California proves that belief more than any other corrupt Democrat state.

I suspect we’ll be seeing the collapse of those states soon. It will be as Ernest Hemingway described about how bankruptcy happens: “gradually, then suddenly.”
In the meantime, one of the major drivers of ultimate collapse is rampant Democrat election fraud. They’re really good at it, and they have decades of experience. The recent Los Angeles mayoral and Governor’s primaries are prime examples.

California has “jungle “ primaries where everyone runs and the top two candidates advance to the election. They did that because in a single-party state, it ensured no Republican could ever advance to the election, until—the horror!—this year when Steve Hilton and Spencer Pratt threatened to do it. The system also allows all manner of other chicanery, like this:

That’s right. One can register to vote with just about any scrap of paper containing a name of the supposed voter, including:

driver's license or identification card of any state;
passport;

employee identification card;
identification card provided by a commercial establishment;

credit or debit card;
military identification card;
student identification card;
health club identification card;
insurance plan identification card; or
public housing identification card.
You name it, it’s cool with California, which also issues driver licenses to illegal aliens who regularly kill Americans with tractor-trailers, so one wonders why they don’t all have one of those and have to resort to gym membership cards with names like “Bob Smith?”
The indelicate have long asked who the hell was Nithya Raman, an undistinguished and all but completely unknown LA Council member, who entered the LA mayoral race, apparently to ensure Pratt couldn’t make it into the top two, but to their horror, he did, and on election night was far ahead of Raman. Playwright and screenwriter Roger Simon commented:
Perhaps, if you want to think conspiratorially, Nithya was put in there to make the incompetent Karen, who flew off to Ghana in the midst of the Palisades fire and hasn’t done much about it since, not to mention barely making a dent in the homeless problem, look good. Nithya would seem like an extremist next to “centrist” Karen of the Venceremos Brigade.
But the scariest thing to me, worse than election fraud, as bad as it is, and it is really bad, is that this was indeed a fair election, and this is what the Los Angeles polity actually wants—two Marxists (deny it though they will) competing to run their city.
Simon is right. Los Angelenos had the choice of two Marxists or a sane and hilarious white guy. It appeared Pratt was ahead of Raman by more than the normal margin of fraud, but this is California, where the impossible happens regularly:

It’s the Cinderella, come-from-behind story of all time!

Sure, it’s statistically impossible, but it’s a great Democrat narrative, and it was Governor Gavin Newsom who, before the primaries, said Democrats had a “break-the-glass”—think break the glass to get a fire extinguisher—emergency plan to keep Republicans out of the top two.
And the emergency plan worked, but Democrats had a whole deck of cards up their sleeves, including every election fraud tactic known to man. But the most important, the real “ break-the-glass” savior was always allowing ballot counting for months after election day. True to Marxism, Democrats have stayed faithful to Joseph Stalin, who said:
That’s why California can’t tally the vote on election day, though entire countries with larger populations manage. They need to know the Republican vote total. With that information, they can ensure Democrats “find” more than enough votes to win. Sure, it’s statistically impossible, and more people end up voting than there are registered voters, but those are just anomalies, not proof of fraud, particularly not for judges who won’t entertain election fraud suits.
But there’s another issue:

That’s already working to drive people who think elections ought to be honest out of California. It will surely work to keep people of similar mind out. And that’s just what Democrats want; not nearly enough sane, Normal Americans voting. Unfortunately, chasing out the people who tend to be most productive and sane, and who pay most of the taxes, is a financially suicidal proposition. But no matter. They expect the federal government will bail them out when everything falls apart.
They might be unpleasantly surprised, and if they’re not, every red state will be.
