How do you get attention these days? Well, one way is to say something stupid about President Trump. No one does that better than Jim Acosta, who can’t get ratings, but he is good at being outrageous. The latest Acosta-ism is perhaps the dumbest of all. Let’s hear about it from Peter D’Abrosca:

‘This is very much like watching the Berlin Wall coming down,’ Acosta said in a strange comparison made around 3:30 a.m.
‘It is a sign that mankind, that humankind can stand up against tyranny,’ he continued. ‘As long as it took, we pledged to continue to have this coverage going, and by golly, we did, because we knew how much this meant to a lot of people out there, and we know how important this was.’

Acosta was talking about removing the name “Trump” from the Kennedy Center. As you may remember, they added the name Trump and then removed it by a court order.
To be fair, reasonable people can disagree on the wisdom of adding the Trump name. I found it a bit confusing, because the Kennedy Center has been around for a while, and adding or changing a name was always going to be controversial. It would have been better to upgrade the center and give President Trump credit and leave it at that. No need to change the name and give the other side a free shot at making an issue out of it.

More insane though was Acosta’s reaction. He drew a comparison to the Berlin Wall, or that symbol of repression that came down in 1989.
Acosta is desperately seeking attention, but he may have gone too far this time. Anyone familiar with history, or what that wall was really about, must be wondering what Jim Acosta is smoking these days.

The bad news is that Trump Derangement Syndrome will bring out the silliest in some people. The good news is that Acosta’s remarks were met with mockery, and less people will be hanging around for his next episode.
