California announces gay 'certification' program

In California, if you're gay and you want to do business with its public utilities, you will need to get 'certified' as being gay. You can't just be any gay. You must be 'certified.'

You know, like a used car.
California Democrats have embraced a new form of favoritism: contracts for businesses that are state-certified as being owned by LGBTQ+ individuals.

The scheme operates through the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), which regulates privately owned utility companies.
And you'll need to get gay-certified not just by saying so, but by particular gay certifiers, Rufo continues:

Paperwork. Supplier Clearinghouse, a group that certifies firms for the CPUC program, features a list of qualifications linked on its website. Applicants can secure certification by providing a letter from an “LGBT organization” attesting to their sexual preferences; proof that a newspaper identified them as “LGBT”; or three letters from “personal contacts” written “on company letterhead” attesting to their homosexual orientation. Corporate officials who “falsely represent” their business as gay face up to a year in county jail.
Supplier Clearinghouse also accepts gay-certification letters from the National LGBTQ+ & Allied Chamber of Commerce. The chamber has its own list of accepted documents, including human resources complaints or police records claiming LGBT discrimination. As NGLCC states on its website, “Certification is a journey, not a destination.”on

Human resources complaints? Like because someone 'solicits' the guy in the next toilet stall by putting his privates through a peephole who isn't gay?
What a qualification.

The bottom line though, is don't just be a gay. Be a certified gay. Be a luxury gay, subject to an 80-point inspection.
Wnich comes pretty close to commodifying people, who might not want to be commodified with a 'certification.'

What happens if you can't pass? What does it mean to not 'measure up' for certification?
When I saw this story, I wondered what Trump administration official Ric Grenell, who is gay, would think. Would he even be 'allowed' to get a certification from these militant left-wing certification groups based on 'who he loves' in politics?
I got my answer rather bluntly:
He knew what this was about. The certification process is all about whether you 'pass' and blend in with the gay lifestyle promoted by wokester groups. If you are just gay and want to be left alone, and don't want to parade around in sequins and marabou boas at 'pride' events and your sexuality is no one's business but your own, you aren't going to pass.
Naturally, this count-the-gays by certification gambit is legally questionable:
California has a gay certification program now?! A report from @christopherrufo detailed how the state is making lists and pressuring utilities to support gay-certified companies. Is this even legal?! @AAGDhillon tells me the DOJ is looking into it:

And yes, Deputy Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon has another item from California on her plate:
BREAKING: The Department of Justice is opening an inquiry into California's gay-certification program. As always, @AAGDhillon is moving into action—and defending the principle of equality under the law. https://t.co/hHc92ZS2hD

As did Rufo:
It’s time for the DOJ to shut down California’s gay-certification program until we can figure out what the hell is going on

I couldn't agree more. This is Orwell-creepy stuff for sorting out the sheep from the goats from among the gay community, and won't stop with just this certification program. Next up, they will certify is someone is 'black enough' or a 'woman' and will easily veer into ideological litmus tests. You're either gay or you're not, you shouldn't have to prove something like that. Shut it all down now.
