Is it time to arrest Jacob Frey?
There is never a dull moment in Minnesota.

This week, Governor Tim Walz was forced to drop out from running for a third term due to fallout from the corruption and taxpayer funds fraud that has gone viral. Then the ICE agent–involved shooting became an excuse for him to attack the Trump administration.
Walz likely saw an opportunity to deflect from his political fall and problems. He was somewhat careful to limit his incitement of leftist agitators. However, his threat to engage the Minnesota National Guard sounds like a direct challenge to President Trump. Although Walz might have a short-term gain, he will most certainly lose in the long run, as the federal agencies can outman and outgun him.

Mayor Jacob Frey of Minneapolis was not as careful.
Frey, a civil rights lawyer, should have restrained himself. He knows that he created a poisoned atmosphere for any trial or control of rioting. One cannot forget the George Floyd riots, which destroyed city buildings that have not recovered to this day. He did nothing to restrain the rioters in 2020 and has stoked them again today.

Cursing the ICE agents and the president inflames leftist activists. It also encourages more threats to the federal agents. It is likely interference with their work, which might be a federal legal infraction. Frey allowed his chief of police to indicate that the police do not assist ICE agents and have a supervisor that makes this determination. Then the police protection for ICE agents falls below that coverage for any other civilian. Could this be a civil rights violation?
As of this writing, there are about 2,000 persons congregating around the area where the shooting incident occurred. Hopefully, the pullback of police will not result in riots, as in 2020. DHS secretary Kristi Noem indicated that the role of ICE agents in Minnesota would not be slackened. Border czar Tom Homan has promised that the surges to sanctuary cities will continue.

Frey’s press conference was outrageous and sad. He stoked the flames without seeing videos that emerged later in the day. Unfortunately, the hearing at the House Oversight Committee revealed all the more the corruption within Minnesota’s political leadership. It is time to have these officials pay a price for their behavior.
