Bennie Thompson misspeaks

It has been said that Donald Trump has an almost magical ability to get Democrats to say and do incredibly stupid things, the kinds of things that in a sane polity would guarantee their electoral doom. In less than a year they’ve defended illegal alien rapists, sex traffickers, murderers and pedophiles. They’ve doxxed and urged the murder of federal immigration agents. They’ve shut down the government, harming their own constituents and admitted they were doing it for political leverage even though they had none and failed. They’re defending domestic violent criminals, particularly those committing the most outrageous and bloody crimes. They’re defending narco-terrorists bringing in drugs that are killing 100,000 and more Americans a year while labeling our military’s destruction of their fast boats packed with tons of drugs war crimes, and the list goes on and on.

I expect them any minute to accuse President Trump of making addicts of fish.

These are all 80-20, even 90-10, issues against Democrats. At least some of them are smart enough to understand that. Why, then, do they do it? It is really Trump Derangement Syndrome that compels them to do things so contrary to the political interests of sane, loyal American politicians?

A recent exchange between DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) provides insight:

Graphic: Social Media Post

Thompson, the ranking member on the committee, said, “Madam Secretary, you and the gentleman from NCTC referenced the unfortunate accident that occurred with the National Guardsmen being killed.”

“Unfortunate accident?!”

Astonished by Thompson’s minimization of the shooting, Noem responded, “You think that was an unfortunate accident? It was a terrorist attack. He shot our National Guardsman in the head.”

Thompson was trying to blame the Biden vetting and asylum grant of the alleged killer on the Trump Administration and kept trying to interrupt Noem, who wasn’t having any of it.

“Congressman Thompson,” Noem said, “I want you to understand, when this individual came into the country, he came under the evacuation of Afghanistan under Operation Allies Welcome, was thoroughly vetted by the Biden administration at that point in time, allowed into our country, and then was never followed up. I want to remind everybody in Congress, we follow the law, and every asylum is supposed to have a check-in every single year, and the Biden administration failed to do that. They vetted this individual, allowed them into our country and did not do due diligence.”

Thompson kept trying to cut her off and resorted to threatening perjury charges. When that didn’t work, he tried to intimidate Director of the National Counterterrorism Center Joe Kent. That didn’t work any better:

Kent told Thompson, “The individual was vetted to serve as a soldier in Afghanistan, and that vetting standard was used by the Biden administration as a ruse to bring him here. Had we followed the standard operating procedures for Special Immigrant Visas, that individual and none of the Allies Welcome people would have come to America. That’s on Joe Biden.”

Why would any elected representative call a planned, terrorist murder an “unfortunate accident?” Did he merely misspeak? He later claimed he did, but he certainly didn’t try to backtrack at the time. How could anyone misspeak to that degree? How could anyone totally mischaracterize a premeditated terrorist murder?

It’s because Democrats aren’t wired right. They really do support criminals and terrorists, not the police or our service members. They hate and threaten any administration official doing their job and upholding American law, the law Congress passed. They fully expect their media propaganda arm to cover their lies and crimes and to push their narratives and warping of the language, and they’re usually right, which is why the favorability ratings of Congress and the media are at historic, abysmal, lows. Most of all, they’re anti-white racists and hate America and most Americans.

It certainly goes more deeply. They think themselves the moral and intellectual elite and are outraged when anyone fails to treat them with the obsequiousness they think they deserve. Their policies are perfect, non-falsifiable. They can’t possibly be wrong, and when they inevitably fail, they blame everyone but themselves.

Thompson was just sufficiently self-aware not to directly blame the murdered and badly injured Guardsmen for the “unfortunate accident,” but many of his colleagues and other Democrats have implied or directly stated the reason for the “accident” was the presence of the Guard. Were the Guard not there, protecting honest citizens and dramatically reducing crime in the Nation’s Capital, the Muslim alleged killer would not have been forced to involve himself in the “unfortunate accident.”

While TDS may be a partial motivating factor, the truth is they do what they do because it’s who and what they are, which does not bode well for America.
