Ten Years Burning Down the Road

The shadow of Barack Obama still darkens the world.

There are some people and countries for which one cannot wish enough bad. Iran quickly comes to mind for this category. Their currency is battling their toilet paper for which is worth more. Much was destroyed during the Twelve Day War, and there has been a fair amount of explosions and fires since the war formally ended. The people seem restless, and to boot, they are seriously running out of water. Now we can add sanctions that were removed and now have snapped back in place. England, France and Germany have formally returned the sanctions after a 10 year hiatus.

Using all of the fingers at my disposal, I counted back 10 years and got to 2015. Now, who was president in 2015? None other than Barack Obama. Yes, President Obama did his all to help the mullahs, from removing crippling sanctions to providing billions (along with President Auto-Pen) for the mullahs to fund their cornucopia of terror organizations: Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and Iraqi militias. President Obama liked to do everything backwards. He knew that his lousy Iran deal would never muster 60 votes in the Senate as a treaty. So he and some conniving Republicans put in a reverse law that if said law was not defeated, then the deal would go into effect. He removed the sanctions and the product that we know of is 400 kilograms of 60 percent enriched Uranium. As Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted, no country in the world holds such a level of enrichment and does not also have nuclear weapons. In short, everything that President Obama did 10 years ago was for the benefit of the mullahs and their terror buddies. One might argue that without the big cash windfall, the pogrom in southern Israel could not have taken place.

It is funny to hear Israeli news sources talk about the sanctions. The concept is that sanctions that were once in place are now snapping back into place. The Israelis think that the name of these sanctions is “Snap Back,” like Bob or Tommy. “The ‘Snap Back Sanctions’ will now come into effect and cripple what is left of Iran’s economy.” One of the biggest problems we have in the West is that we always think that other players are rational actors. The Iranians should be suffering so badly from international sanctions and internal strife that they should do the logical thing and come around to dropping enrichment and simply be like Bahrain. The same thinking goes with Hamas and the Palestinians. Why do they keep fighting, when everything is destroyed and so many people are dead? The reason for such fantasies and fallacies is that we as a society nearly do not believe in anything worth dying for. If the U.S. was under serious threat of nuclear destruction, what percentage of eligible citizens would feel compelled to fight for the safety and future of the United States? Because we are not driven for a cause, we wrongly assume that others think in similar patterns. "I'll take care of that Euro-Trash..." We know how that turned out in Die Hard.

If you listen to jihadists from Gaza to Tehran, they really don’t care how much others suffer or how much stuff gets destroyed. They are on a mission and everything is secondary to the same. So while Barack Obama may have convinced himself that he was cutting a deal with the Iranians to prevent a nuclear bomb and bring Iran back into the league of nations, the Iranians saw an incredible opportunity to fund all of their destructive activity and continue their drive to the bomb by other means. In 2015, there was no stockpile of 60 percent Uranium; today, there is and apparently Israel and the U.S. know where it is located. The Germans under Hitler were the same, where they either ignored the terms of the Armistice or skirted the same in order to prepare for going back to war. They did much of their armaments production elsewhere and grew their army in violation of the terms set by the victors of World War I. The Germans, like the Iranians, knew that the opposing countries did not have the stomach to fight over their trickery, lies, and subterfuges. Everyone knew that the Iranians were enriching uranium and had facilities not under international monitoring. But nobody until this past summer was willing to put a bomb on the country in response to their behavior.

The sanctions now snapping back should never have been removed. Iran is hellbent on destroying Israel and the West. Its development of ballistic missiles has only been for the purpose of attacking Israel, Europe and the U.S.—in that order. Israel will be monitoring Iranian efforts to get back into the missile production business. Obama, John “No Neurons” Kerry and others were more than happy to accept Iranian promises that they have a fatwa not to build nuclear weapons. They were so desperate for a deal, they so much wanted an Islamic counterbalance to Israel and more moderate Arab states that they were willing to believe any lie and provide Iran with whatever it wanted in order to progress. Removal of sanctions on Iran’s aviation sector nearly led to a purchase deal with Boeing. Our lawyers threatened Boeing with litigation should they sell planes to the homicidal mullahs. The deal melted away.

Barack Obama’s shadow still falls on the world in which we live. From his hideous library that is a disaster for Chicago to his role in the attempt to destroy the first Trump presidency, from his part in arming and enriching the mullahs to his stubborn refusal to go away and let America progress on the racial front, Barack Obama and his presidency were a disaster for the United States. Many of the maladies that Donald Trump and his people have to address like DEI and guys in women’s sports can find their roots in the days of Obama. While we can’t invent an alternative history, one would guess that had the “crippling sanctions” simply stayed in place, Iran might be a much better place today and the world would be less threatened by Islamic jihadi violence. As Bibi Netanyahu mentioned forcefully in his U.N. address late last week, the West does not have the stomach to deal with the threat that they have brought to their shores. Somehow they think that if Israel agrees to a Palestinian terror state, their internal problems of hundreds of thousands of unassimilated illegal immigrants will somehow vanish. Just as with Iran, the West does not understand the head of their enemy. The U.S. also needed to adapt to SS and Japanese fanaticism. The U.S. lost thousands of sailors and dozens of ships to kamikaze pilots. American soldiers in France were shocked to see SS atrocities in small French towns. We don’t fight like that, but if we want to win, we had better get into their heads. Iran would love to drop nuclear bombs on Israel, all of Western Europe and the U.S. That they don’t have the means is a minor inconvenience. They will let their people starve to death, they will hang them by the thousands if such actions allow them to continue on their quest for world destruction and domination.

When I used to give talks about the suicide bombing, I would ask if the audience would be willing to commit suicide by blowing up and sending shrapnel into people that they had never met but were nominally associated with a group they hated. They thought I was mad. But in Ramallah and Tehran, they would have nodded their heads in agreement.
