Macron and Cheese

The French president helps us realize why France is sliding off the world stage on its way to becoming a modern caliphate.
Emmanuel Macron is Europe’s biggest disappointment. When he entered office, people expected a French Kennedy—young, dynamic, charismatic, and successful on the world stage. Instead, they received one of the clowns that fell off of the train as it moved between Paris and Bordeaux. Between beatings from his wife, Macron helped cement his reputation for having cement where most people have neurons.

The French president announced that France would recognize a Palestinian state at the UN confab in September. I hate quoting anyone whose IQ is less than the number of shoes he wears, but we need his statement in order to understand why Macron and many others simply grandstand on Israel and many other important issues:
“We need an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages, and massive humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza. We must also ensure the demilitarization of Hamas, secure and rebuild Gaza. And finally, we must build the State of Palestine, guarantee its viability, and ensure that by accepting its demilitarization and fully recognizing Israel, it contributes to the security of all in the region.”
Let’s look at some of the glaring internal conflicts in Macron’s statement.
*Immediate ceasefire and release of all hostages. Hamas has made it clear that it will not entertain any ceasefire that does not include an end to the war and removal of all IDF troops from Gaza. Israel for its part wishes to reserve the right to return to fighting after any ceasefire and has discussed keeping parts of Gaza in the north and south so as to prevent further deadly attacks. Hamas could release all hostages today. Instead, it plans for a slow drip in order to remain in power.
*Demilitarization. This point has been made by Bibi Netanyahu for years: any self-governing Palestinian area will have to be demilitarized. It has been a non-starter for the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Hamas. Hamas, like Hezbollah, absolutely refuses to give up its arms, for it knows that when it does, it might as well become a debating society. Palestinian power comes from the barrel of a gun, as Mao so delicately observed. The Palestinians refuse to live in a demilitarized zone guarded by Israel.

*Recognizing Israel. Yasir Arafat mumbled something about stopping terror in order to get billions from Western suckers. He continued to send suicide bombers to kill Israelis. Hamas has in its charter the destruction of Israel and the murder of all Jews. Is there anything to suggest that Hamas is willing to recognize Israel? The PA refuses to accept Israel as a Jewish state, though that definition includes 20 percent Arab citizens. Hamas has never seriously suggested that it would recognize Israel as Macron so breezily suggests.
*Security in the region. The Palestinians have been the kings of instability. They almost brought down King Hussein of Jordan. They were a catalyst for the 15 years of civil war in Lebanon. Nobody wanted to take in Gazans because they know that they are trouble. The lack of security in the region is in large part due to the Palestinians.
What Macron does is a diplomatic sleight of hand. He puts out a statement with internal contradictions and bullet points that are impossible in reality. What Macron can then do is claim that France is making the right moral decision to recognize “Palestine” and then make Israel look bad, though Donald Trump said that Macron’s statement will have no impact at all. Hamas and the PA are crowing that France, with its large Muslim population, is on its way to recognizing “Palestine”, and they don’t get bogged down about giving up weapons or recognizing some Jewish state over there.

Israel and the US condemned Macron’s ploy. They correctly note that giving the Palestinians a state is a reward for the brutal terror of October 7th: kill Jews and get your own state! What Macron and the pathetic leaders of Ireland, Spain and other countries are doing is cosplay. They refuse to see the Palestinians for who they are: terrorists and terror supporters who refuse to entertain any solution that keeps some form of Israel on the map. They don’t care how small the latter’s borders may be: there can be no Jewish state. The Palestinians were offered a state multiple times in the past, and even Bill Clinton had to admit that it was they who scotched a deal on the table—one he tried to broker. The Palestinians kill Israelis and rejoice over the outcome because they do not want a state as much as they do not want the Jews to have one. They thrill when Jews die even though terror attacks and certainly the October pogrom do not advance their interests. How many tens of billions of dollars in damage has Gaza suffered? Sixty percent of the structures that existed on the 6th of October 2023 are rubble today. Hamas does not care. Many of the Palestinians do not care: we killed Jews by the bushel! We brought back their women! We are holding their hostages! It’s like they say that most people go to an F1 event to see the accidents and not the actual racing or outcome.
What Macron is trying to do is to short circuit a normal process. The Palestinians should have moved from terrorists to statesmen, from destroyers to builders. But they haven’t and they don’t want to. So rather than wait an eon for them to do what they need to do, Macron simply wants to jump to the end and declare, voila, there will be a Palestinian state. He has absolved Abbas and Hamas from having to fix their institutions, change their way of governance, and build the foundations of a society. It’s like teaching a 4-year-old how to drive because at some point he’ll be old enough to drive, so let’s teach him now!

Ours is a completely upside down world. Hamas should be suing for peace. Sure, they hold Israeli hostages, something near and dear to its enemy. But, its leadership has been mostly wiped out, its fighters have been decimated, its land mass has been turned into a Lego factory fire. Hamas has gotten its derriere kicked but in typical Palestinian fashion is trying to call the shots. What they want is to go back to October 6th, 2023: they are in charge, there are no Israeli troops in Gaza proper and food and goodies are flowing in freely. They kind of forgot about slaughtering 1,200 people and bringing the wrath of Israel upon them. Imagine Hitler, just before his suicide, saying, “Oh, let’s forget it. Let’s go back to the 1938 borders and act like nothing happened.”
As I recently wrote, France is one of the many countries that exist on a map but do not exist in power. The U.S., Russia and China determine around 90 percent of what goes on in the world, with the remaining countries playing background music on the world stage. If Donald Trump had made the above statement about Palestinian statehood, the lights would be burning very late in the Israeli chancelleries. That Macron said it means that it is time to go out and buy a croissant.
